Establishing and Maintaining Partnerships with Surgical Model Suppliers

Establishing and Maintaining Partnerships with Surgical Model Suppliers

Date: Thursday, September 15, 2022
Time: 1:30 pm
Introduction: The Global Surgery and Anesthesia Team (GS) is a group within Pfizer’s Comparative Medicine’s (CM) Groton, CT organization. We provide expertise in laboratory animal surgical models and anesthesia support to research partners. Our mission is to provide investigative partners with the best possible model to meet study needs. This allows us to guide investigative staff to the best outcome to meet their study requirements, whether this involves in-house development and production, or vetting suppliers that can provide surgical models to complete study work. We represent both the interests of CM and of the customer (investigative group) by presenting the need, […]
Development of a Novel Technique for Ambulatory Left Ventricular Pressure Measurement in Mice

Development of a Novel Technique for Ambulatory Left Ventricular Pressure Measurement in Mice

Date: Friday, September 16, 2022
Time: 11:00 am
Introduction: Industry has seen a shift in the use of genetically modified mice for the evaluation of cardiac performance and function. There is significant interest in developing novel therapies to treat heart failure and measuring the effectiveness of compounds. Many models exist in larger species however, there are limited translational models for mice. To evaluate compounds in mice, often large animal models are scaled down to be utilized in studies. In this presentation we will discuss the development of a murine model of left ventricular pressure cannulation (LVP). Currently, echocardiography is routinely used to assess disease progression in rodent models of […]
